Installation Steps

1. Preparation:

Make sure the engine has cooled down and disconnect the battery for safety. Prepare the required tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, timing tools, etc. Raise the front of the vehicle and remove the right front wheel for better access to the timing belt.

2. Remove the old belt:

Loosen the clamp on the cooling hose and remove the top cover of the camshaft timing belt chamber. Adjust the crankshaft to the specific marked position using the special tool and lock the pulley. Remove the crankshaft pulley and its supporting parts while recording the original direction of rotation of the timing belt. Remove the bolts from the timing belt tensioning pulley, remove the tensioning device and note the sequence of removal of the auxiliary drive belt.

3. Install the new belt:

Ensure that all relevant parts, such as the timing belt pulley, water pump and tensioning pulley, are in a clean condition. Slide the new belt over the camshaft of the engine, ensuring that the belt is correctly aligned, and follow the markings to accurately install the new belt onto the crankshaft and camshaft. Install the tensioner pulley and adjust the belt tension to the manufacturer's recommended range. Use a timing tool to calibrate to ensure that the belt tension is just right, neither slipping nor overtightening.

4. Inspection and Adjustment:

Rotate the crankshaft clockwise two turns to check that the timing marks are properly aligned. Reinstall the previously removed fittings and make sure they fit snugly. Start the engine and perform a test run to check for any unusual sounds or vibrations. If any problems are found, promptly check the belt installation and make adjustments.
