  1. Lift Vehicle Safely Raise the vehicle on a hydraulic lift or secure jack stands, ensuring the front wheels are completely off the ground and the vehicle is stable.
  2. Remove Wheel Assembly Unbolt and remove the front wheel to access the shock absorber mounting points and suspension components.
  3. Disconnect Suspension Links Unbolt the lower control arm connection and any anti-roll bar links attached to the shock absorber assembly.
  4. Remove Old Shock Assembly Unbolt the upper mounting point inside the engine bay, then carefully lower and remove the complete shock absorber and spring unit from the vehicle.
  5. Install New Assembly Position the new shock absorber with spring into the suspension cavity, aligning the upper mounting point with the chassis bracket.
  6. Secure All Connections Bolt the upper mounting point and reconnect the lower control arm and anti-roll bar links, tightening all fasteners to factory torque specifications.
  7. Reinstall Wheel and Test Mount the wheel back onto the hub, lower the vehicle to the ground, and perform a test drive to verify smooth suspension operation.
Each MG model (3, 3SW, 6, and 7) has separate left and right variants because the shock absorber assembly is position-specific. You'll need to identify which side of your vehicle requires replacement—the left side corresponds to the driver's side in left-hand-drive markets. If you're replacing both front shocks, you'll need to order both the left and right SKUs for your vehicle model (for example, MG3 front shock absorber left and MG3 front shock absorber right).
This assembly is engineered to match factory specifications and uses a direct bolt-on design compatible with factory mounting points. If your vehicle has aftermarket suspension modifications, we recommend contacting us with details of your setup to confirm fitment, as non-standard components may affect compatibility.
Your package includes the front shock absorber with spring assembly, a mounting hardware kit, and an installation guide. You'll also need standard tools like a hydraulic lift or jack stands, wrenches, and a torque wrench to tighten fasteners to factory specifications as outlined in the installation steps.
The assembly is constructed with high-grade steel and corrosion-resistant materials designed to withstand harsh weather and road salt exposure. We recommend regular visual inspections for any signs of leakage or damage, and avoid driving through deep water or extreme off-road conditions that could compromise the hydraulic damping system. Keeping your vehicle clean and addressing any suspension noises promptly will help extend service life.
This is a complete integrated assembly—the shock absorber and spring come together as one unit, so you don't need to transfer or reuse any components from your old suspension. This design eliminates the need for separate component installation, saving time and labor costs during the replacement process.
Use the vehicle selector at the top of this page to confirm fitment for your specific year, brand, and model. If your vehicle is not listed or you're unsure, contact us at support@evparts4x4.com with your VIN — we'll confirm compatibility within 24 hours. Our Guaranteed Fit policy means if a compatibility issue is on our end, we'll make it right.
