Installation Steps

Step 1: Prepare the Vehicle

1. Park Safely: Move the vehicle to a flat, stable surface away from traffic. Engage the parking brake and shift the transmission to Park (for automatic) or 1st gear (for manual).
2. Secure Wheels: Place wheel wedges behind the wheels diagonally opposite the side you’ll be lifting to prevent rolling.

Step 2: Locate Jack Points

1. Identify Factory Jack Points: On the KIA Rio Forte, the primary jack points are located beneath the vehicle’s rocker panels (near the doors). These are reinforced areas designed to support the jack safely.
2. Avoid Unsupported Areas: Never place the jack under the bumper, suspension components, or unmarked areas to prevent damage or instability.

Step 3: Lift the Vehicle

1. Position the Jack: Align the jack’s lifting pad with the factory jack point. Ensure it sits flush and securely.
2. Begin Cranking: Slowly turn the jack handle clockwise to lift the vehicle until the tire clears the ground by 2–3 inches. Use steady, controlled motions to avoid sudden drops.

Step 4: Secure with Jack Stands

1. Place Jack Stands: Position the stands under the vehicle’s frame rails or reinforced structural points near the lifted wheel. Ensure they are fully extended and locked in place.
2. Lower the Vehicle: Gently lower the jack until the vehicle rests on the stands. Test the stability by gently rocking the vehicle.

Step 5: Perform Maintenance/Repairs

• With the vehicle safely elevated, you may now change the tire, inspect undercarriage components, or perform routine maintenance.

Step 6: Lower the Vehicle

1. Re-Engage the Jack: Raise the vehicle slightly to relieve pressure on the stands.
2. Remove Stands: Carefully lower the jack until the tire touches the ground. Fully retract the jack and store it securely.
