Installation Steps

1. Set the Gear to Neutral (N):
• Ensure the vehicle is in Neutral (N) gear before beginning the process.
2. Remove the Leather holster:
• There are no visible fasteners at the bottom of the shift lever, so simply pull the leather holster upwards.
• If the holster is difficult to remove, use the provided pry tool to help lift it.
3. Remove the Shift Knob:
• After pulling the leather boot upwards, you will see the shift knob attachment.
• Firmly pull the shift knob upwards to detach it from the base, which will cause the leather holster to reverse and expose a retaining clip.
4. Disengage the Retaining Clip:
• You will notice clips holding the shift knob in place. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry open the clip.
• Once the clip is released, you can remove the shift knob completely.
5. Remove the Retaining Accessories:
• After removing the shift knob, detach the retaining accessories (like a bracket or mounting piece) from the vehicle. These accessories are no longer needed for reassembly.
6. Prepare the Leather holster:
• Keep the leather holster in an inverted position to facilitate the installation of the new shift knob.
• If the opening of the leather holster is too small to fit the new shift knob, you can make a small cut to widen the opening.
7. Install the New Shift Knob:
• Position the new shift knob vertically and insert it into the shift lever assembly.
• Firmly press it down to ensure a snug fit. If needed, use the provided zip tie to secure the leather boot tightly around the base of the knob.
8. Adjust the Shift Knob Position:
• If the shift knob feels too long or doesn't sit correctly, you can pull the knob slightly upwards to adjust its position.
9. Reattach the Leather holster:
• After adjusting the shift knob, carefully place the leather boot back over the knob.
• Insert the boot and knob assembly onto the shift lever mount. If the fit is tight, slightly loosen the screws underneath the shift lever (there are typically three screws) to allow for easier installation.
10. Tighten the Screws:
• Once the shift knob and leather boot are properly in place, tighten the screws underneath the shift lever to secure the assembly.
11. Test the Gear Shifting:
• Test the shifting mechanism to ensure that each gear position is functioning correctly.
• Once confirmed, tighten any remaining screws to fully secure the shift lever in place.
12. Final Touches:
• Once everything is secure, carefully fit the leather boot back into place around the shift lever.
• Ensure the boot is properly aligned and covers the base of the shift knob.
