Installation Steps
Park your KIA on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, and secure with wheel chocks. You'll need a metric socket set (10mm, 12mm), a lug wrench, jack, jack stands, and a prying tool. Confirm you have the correct new ABS sensor for your KIA model.
2. Remove the Old Sensor- Lift Safely: Loosen lug nuts. Then, jack up the vehicle at the designated points and secure it firmly with jack stands.
- Remove Wheel: Fully remove the lug nuts and carefully take off the wheel.
- Locate & Disconnect: Find the ABS sensor (usually behind the rotor or near the wheel hub). Disconnect its electrical connector.
- Unbolt & Extract: Use a 10mm socket to remove the sensor's bolt. Gently pull the old sensor out; use a prying tool if it's stuck.
- Connect & Insert: Connect the wiring harness to your new sensor—listen for a click! Align and insert the new sensor into the hole.
- Secure It: Install the 10mm bolt, tightening it firmly to the appropriate torque (typically 8.8 - 13.7 N·m, but check your vehicle's manual for the exact value).
- Wheel On: Place the wheel back on, hand-tighten the lug nuts, then torque them to the manufacturer's recommended specifications (typically 107.9 - 127.5 N·m for KIA).
- Inspect: Before lowering, visually confirm the sensor is securely installed with no loose wires or components.
- Lower Vehicle: Carefully lower your KIA.
- Test Drive: Take a short drive. The ABS warning light should turn off if the installation is successful. If it remains on, recheck your connections and sensor installation.
