The tow bar is the metal hitch only - it has no electrics. If you want your trailer's brake lights, indicators and tail lights to work, you need the wiring kit. Already have working trailer wiring? Order just the tow bar. Starting from scratch? Order both.

The kit connects into your Cannon's tail-light circuit to pick up the brake, indicator and tail-light signals, following the wiring diagram included in the box. A decoder module then generates a separate, isolated power feed for the trailer. Because the install involves the factory tail-light wiring, we recommend an auto electrician or a confident DIYer.

It's the most important safety part. Modern trucks monitor their light circuits with a body computer (BCM). Powering a trailer straight off those circuits can trigger fault codes or damage the computer. The decoder reads the light signals and creates a separate, clean power feed for the trailer, so the trailer's electrical load never touches your truck's computer.

That's the main power lead. It runs from the trailer socket to your battery's positive terminal so the trailer draws power directly from the battery rather than the thin tail-light wiring. This is what lets a 13-pin caravan run a fridge, charge its house battery and power interior lights while driving. Fit the inline fuse at the battery end.

Match the kit to your trailer's plug. Count the pins on your trailer connector: 4 or 7 flat/round is the American standard; 7 or 13 round is the European standard. 13-pin adds a reverse-light signal and constant 'always-on' power for caravans.
