Installation Steps

1. Locate the Drain Cover

  • The drain cover is typically located under the windshield cowl panel (beneath the wiper arms).
  • It sits near the base of the windshield, covering the drain holes that channel water away from the engine bay.

2. Remove the Wiper Arms

  • Sportage/Seltos:
    • Lift the wiper arms away from the windshield.
    • Use a socket wrench to remove the retaining nut (10mm or 12mm) securing each arm.
    • Gently pull the arms straight up to detach them.
  • Forte/Optima:
    • Follow the same steps as above, but ensure the arms are in the "parked" position before removal.

3. Remove the Cowl Panel

  • Pry up the plastic clips securing the cowl panel using a trim tool.
  • Remove any screws (usually Phillips-head) holding the panel in place.
  • Lift the panel carefully to expose the drain cover and drainage channels.

4. Access the Drain Cover

  • The drain cover is often a small plastic or rubber piece covering the main drain hole.
  • If the old cover is stuck, use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry it out.

5. Install the New Drain Cover

  • Align the new cover with the drain hole.
  • Press it firmly into place until it clicks or sits flush with the cowl panel.
  • If the cover has a retaining clip, ensure it latches securely.

6. Reassemble Components

  • Replace the cowl panel and secure it with clips/screws.
  • Reinstall the wiper arms and tighten the retaining nuts to the specified torque (check your owner’s manual).
  • Test the wipers to ensure proper alignment.
