Installation Steps

1. Prepare the Vehicle

• Park on flat, level ground away from traffic. Engage the parking brake and turn off the engine.
• For manual transmission: Shift to Reverse. For automatic: Shift to Park (P).
• Wedge blocks under the wheels diagonally opposite the jacking side to prevent rolling.

2. Locate Jacking Points

• Factory Jacking Positions:
  • Front: Look for reinforced brackets or indentations near the front subframe or lower control arms.
  • Rear: Use the rear frame rails or suspension mounting points (avoid plastic trim).
• Pro Tip: Refer to your vehicle’s manual for exact locations (e.g., Kia user manuals specify points near pinch welds or stamped metal reinforcements).

3. Position the Jack

• Place the jack directly under the designated lifting point. Use a wooden block or rubber pad (e.g., hockey puck) to protect the vehicle’s underbody.
• Avoid These Areas: Bumpers, exhaust components, fuel tanks, or plastic panels.

4. Lift the Vehicle

• Hand-Crank Operation:
  • Slowly rotate the crank handle to raise the jack until the tire clears the ground.
  • Never exceed the jack’s weight capacity (typically 1.5–2 tons for passenger vehicles).
• Safety Stop: Stop lifting once the tire is 2–3 inches off the ground.

5. Secure with Jack Stands

• Position jack stands under the vehicle’s frame rails or reinforced points near the lifted wheel.
• Lower the jack slightly to transfer weight to the stands. Ensure the vehicle is stable before working underneath.

6. Complete Your Task

• Proceed with tire changes, inspections, or repairs.
• Never work under a vehicle supported solely by a jack.

7. Lower the Vehicle

• Use the jack to lift the vehicle slightly, remove the stands, and slowly lower the jack.
• Reinstall the wheel, tighten lug nuts in a star pattern, and lower the vehicle fully.
