Installation steps

Preparation of Tools and Vehicle:

  • Prepare the necessary tools such as a wrench, screwdriver, socket set, etc.
  • Ensure the vehicle is turned off and has cooled down to avoid burns.

Locate the Crankshaft Position Sensor:

  • The crankshaft position sensor is typically located on the clutch housing of the transmission, at the rear left side of the engine.
  • The exact position may vary depending on the vehicle model, but it is generally in a similar location. Refer to the vehicle's service manual for accurate positioning.

Disconnect the Power and Remove the Old Sensor:

  • Before starting the replacement, always disconnect the vehicle's battery negative terminal to prevent short circuits and accidental electric shock.
  • Use the appropriate tools to carefully remove the screws or clamps securing the crankshaft sensor, then pull the old sensor out of its mounting location.

Clean the Installation Area:

  • Before installing the new sensor, clean any oil or debris from the installation area to ensure the new sensor can be securely installed and function properly.

Install the New Sensor:

  • Insert the new crankshaft position sensor into the mounting position and secure it using screws or clamps.
  • Before securing it, you can place a plastic or cardboard shim under the sensor to adjust its depth, ensuring the shim is flat and firmly touching the sensor’s bottom surface to avoid shifting during installation.

Connect the Wiring and Restore the Power:

  • Connect the sensor's wiring plug securely, ensuring no loose connections.
  • After installation, reconnect the vehicle's battery negative terminal.

Start the Vehicle and Test:

  • Start the vehicle and observe its operation. Check for any error codes. If everything runs smoothly, the crankshaft sensor replacement is successful.
